Therapy Types at River Oaks
Addiction Treatment Types
We’ve talked about the importance of providing individualized treatment plans that speak to each client’s addiction, co-occurring mental health issues, and medical conditions. Treating the whole person doesn’t mean using all of the therapies we offer, just the ones appropriate for that client’s needs.
By performing a comprehensive assessment at admission, we gather detailed information on the client’s addiction history, co-occurring mental health disorders, and ongoing medical issues to ensure we provide the addiction therapy types that appropriately address his or her needs. As a collaborative effort, the client, primary therapist, and team focus on the client’s strengths, treatment needs, assessments, and preferences for treatment goals. We want to empower the client to achieve personal change, lead a self-directed life, and move towards long-term recovery.
Once we tailor the treatment plan to fit his or her clinical and addiction needs, we periodically evaluate its effectiveness to make sure we’re still on track with the treatment goals.
As a component of our dual diagnosis approach to treatment, the client participates in therapeutic programming as clinically indicated. The following addiction therapies, along with the Embracing Change: Recovery for Life curriculum, may be advised as a part of the customized treatment plan:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Group Therapy
- Individual Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Recovery-Oriented Challenge Therapy
- Equine Therapy
- Expressive Arts and Music Therapy
- Wellness Groups
- Aftercare Recovery Group
- Skills Building
