Addiction Professionals Day: Honoring Those Who Help Others Find Addiction Recovery
Addiction can impact every person–no matter who they are. While those who are facing addiction, either themselves or with a loved one, may find themselves in darkness, there is light found through recovery.
To recognize the effort, resilience, and strength of those going through recovery, September is designated as National Recovery Month. It is meant to focus on and support new evidence-based treatments and recovery practices, celebrate the recovery community, and honor the commitment of those who work to help make recovery possible.
As part of National Recovery Month, National Addiction Professionals Day was established to recognize the dedication and hard work of professionals in the addiction field. This year, taking place on Friday, September 20, 2024, this special day emphasizes addiction professionals’ essential roles in prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts, and celebrates their significant contributions to transforming lives and enhancing communities.
With alcohol and drug misuse and abuse continuing to be an overwhelming problem in the United States, it’s essential to take a moment to honor the individuals who are crucial in the fight against addiction. We recognize addiction professionals, including counselors, doctors, nurses, program coordinators, educators, and other specialists focused on addiction prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery support, and education.
